Introduction

The Rankly service ("Rankly," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Discord server and bot listing, discovery, and promotion platform accessible at rankly.live and any associated subdomains, applications, and services (collectively, the "Platform" or "Service").

This Privacy Policy describes how Rankly collects, uses, stores, discloses, and protects information about individuals who access or use the Platform ("User," "you," or "your"). It also describes the rights you may have with respect to your personal information and how you may exercise them.

By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection and processing of your information as described herein. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you must not use the Platform.

This Privacy Policy should be read alongside our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Refund Policy, and DMCA Policy, all of which are incorporated by reference and govern your use of the Platform.

We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. When material changes are made, we will publish a notice on the Platform no fewer than fourteen (14) days before the revised Policy takes effect. Your continued use of the Platform following the effective date of any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.

Section 1 โ€” Information We Collect

We collect information in three principal ways: directly from you, automatically through your use of the Platform, and from third-party sources.

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

When you create an account, interact with Platform features, or contact us for support, you provide us with information that we collect and process. This includes the following categories:

  • Authentication and Account Data: When you authenticate through Discord's OAuth system, we receive and store your Discord user ID, username and display name, avatar URL, email address (where you have authorized its disclosure), and server membership information where required for verification purposes.
  • User-Generated Content: Any content you create or submit on the Platform is collected and stored, including server listings and descriptions, bot listings and associated content, reviews and ratings, votes and bookmarks, advertising campaign configurations and bid data, and any communications you submit through our support channels.
  • Payment and Transaction Data: When you make purchases on the Platform, we collect transaction records and payment metadata necessary to process and verify your transactions. We do not store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive financial credentials. All payment processing is handled directly by our third-party payment processors, Stripe and Cryptomus, subject to their respective privacy policies.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you access or use the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical and behavioral information through standard web technologies, including cookies, log files, and similar tracking mechanisms. This includes:

  • Technical Data: We collect your IP address, approximate geographic location derived from your IP address (typically at the country and city level), browser type and version, operating system and device information, and the URL of the page that referred you to the Platform.
  • Usage Data: We collect data about how you interact with the Platform, including pages viewed and time spent on each, search queries and filter selections, session duration and frequency, and statistical data about which features you use and how.
  • Cookie and Tracking Data: We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain session integrity, remember your preferences, analyze usage patterns, and deliver advertising. A full description of our cookie practices is set out in Section 6 of this Policy.

1.3 Information from Third-Party Sources

We may receive information about you from third parties in connection with the operation of the Platform. These sources include Discord, which may provide updated profile information when you authenticate or re-authenticate via OAuth; our payment processors, Stripe and Cryptomus, which provide transaction status updates and fraud detection signals; and advertising partners, who may share aggregated or pseudonymous data related to ad delivery and campaign measurement.

Information received from third parties is handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy and the terms under which it was obtained.

Section 2 โ€” How We Use Your Information

Rankly uses the information we collect for the following purposes, all of which are necessary either for the performance of our contract with you, the pursuit of our legitimate business interests, compliance with applicable legal obligations, or with your consent where required.

2.1 Platform Operations

We use your information to create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, display and manage server and bot listings, process votes, reviews, and bookmarks, operate advertising campaigns and real-time bidding systems, administer credit transactions, and provide customer support.

2.2 Security and Compliance

We use your information to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent activity and platform abuse, enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, comply with applicable legal obligations, respond to lawful requests from regulatory or law enforcement authorities, and maintain the security and integrity of the Platform and its users.

2.3 Platform Improvement and Analytics

We use aggregated and pseudonymized usage data to analyze how the Platform is used, identify areas for improvement, develop and test new features, and optimize Platform performance and user experience.

2.4 Communications

We use your contact information to send you service-related notifications, respond to your support inquiries, and inform you of material updates to our policies. We do not send unsolicited promotional communications without your prior consent, and you may opt out of non-essential communications at any time as described in Section 5.

2.5 Advertising

We use certain data, including usage behavior and information provided by advertising partners, to facilitate the delivery of advertising on the Platform and to measure campaign performance. This is described in greater detail in Section 6.

Section 3 โ€” How We Share Your Information

3.1 General Commitment

Rankly does not sell your personal information to third parties. We share your information only in the limited circumstances described in this Section.

3.2 Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf and under our instruction, including payment processors (Stripe and Cryptomus), cloud hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics service providers, and advertising networks including Google AdSense. These providers are contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes for which it was disclosed and to maintain appropriate security standards.

3.3 Legal and Regulatory Disclosures

We may disclose your information where required by applicable law, court order, or regulatory authority, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Rankly, its users, or the public. This includes disclosures made in connection with fraud investigations, anti-money laundering compliance, or responses to lawful requests by law enforcement.

3.4 Publicly Visible Information

Certain information you submit to the Platform is made publicly visible by design. This includes your username and avatar, server and bot listings and their associated descriptions, public reviews and ratings you have submitted, and server or bot statistics. You should exercise discretion in what information you include in publicly visible content, as such content may be indexed by search engines or accessed by third parties.

3.5 Business Transfers

In the event that Rankly undergoes a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such transfer and any material changes to this Privacy Policy that result from it, in accordance with the notice procedures described in the Introduction.

3.6 With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties in circumstances not described above where you have given your explicit, informed consent to such sharing.

Section 4 โ€” Data Retention and Security

4.1 Retention Periods

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active and for such additional period as is necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy or to comply with applicable legal obligations. Specifically, transaction records and financial data are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years in compliance with applicable accounting and legal requirements. Upon account deletion, most personal data is removed within thirty (30) days; however, certain records may be retained beyond this period where necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance.

4.2 Security Measures

Rankly implements a range of technical and organizational security measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit using industry-standard protocols, encryption of data at rest, access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel with a legitimate need, and continuous security monitoring of Platform systems.

4.3 Limitations

No method of data transmission or storage is completely secure. While we apply industry-standard protections and take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

Section 5 โ€” Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable data protection law, you may have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

Section 6 โ€” Cookies and Advertising

6.1 Cookie Use

Rankly uses cookies and similar tracking technologies โ€” including local storage objects and web beacons โ€” to operate and improve the Platform. We use four principal categories of cookies:

By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your information to jurisdictions outside your own, including jurisdictions that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.

Where we transfer personal information from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or other jurisdictions with data transfer restrictions to countries that have not been deemed to provide an adequate level of data protection, we take appropriate safeguards to ensure that your information remains protected in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
